Main responsibility

We are looking for a Coordinator, Technical Expertise – Intercultural Health to contribute to the development, quality and continuous improvement of intercultural health, gender equality and human rights interventions implemented through the Harmonie project in Latin America. 

In collaboration with partners, technical teams and Indigenous communities, the Coordinator, Technical Expertise provides strategic and technical support that fosters capacity strengthening, the integration of local knowledge and intercultural approaches, and the achievement of sustainable results adapted to the realities of the intervention areas. 

More specifically:

SUPPORT: LEAD ORGANIZATIONAL EXPERTISE IN INTERCULTURAL HEALTH, GENDER EQUALITY AND HUMAN
  • Support partners, technical teams and project coordinators in capacity strengthening, planning and implementation of interventions. 
  • Ensure the quality, relevance and adaptation of interventions to sociocultural, institutional and territorial contexts, in accordance with Santé Monde standards
  • Develop and promote innovative approaches that foster the integration of local knowledge, intercultural practices, gender equality and human rights.
INSPIRE: ESTABLISH CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PROCESSES FOR THE HARMONIE PROJECT 
  • Design and improve tools, reference frameworks and monitoring mechanisms to enhance quality and learning in supporting local partners.
  • Produce and promote knowledge generated by the Harmonie project through the documentation of good practices, lessons learned and evidence-based data.
  • Facilitate spaces for exchange, reflection and the development of collective expertise in intercultural health, gender equality and human rights. 
CO-CREATE: DEVELOP SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
  • Contribute to the development of strategies, projects and partnerships that foster innovation, sustainability and the impact of interventions. 
  • Support coordination, governance and collaboration mechanisms with partners from a co-development and ownership perspective. 
  • Conduct strategic monitoring and represent the organization in order to identify opportunities, emerging trends and promising practices in health. 

You have:

  • Legal authorization to work in one of the Harmonie project implementation countries, namely Peru, Guatemala or Bolivia; 
  • An undergraduate or graduate university degree in a relevant field, including public health, community health, anthropology, international development, social sciences or any other related field;
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in public health, community health or international development, including significant experience in technical support and capacity strengthening;
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing or supporting interventions based on intercultural, participatory and human rights-based approaches;
  • Experience working with community organizations, Indigenous peoples or local actors in multicultural contexts (an asset);
  • Experience in gender equality and human rights
  • Good knowledge of Global Affairs Canada accountability requirements;
  • Proficiency in French and Spanish, both spoken and written; knowledge of English is an asset;
  • Proficiency with the Office 365 suite;
  • Availability to carry out field missions in Latin America;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Attention to quality and detail;
  • Autonomy and a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Strong writing skills;
  • Ability to support people in developing skills in intercultural contexts;
  • Results-oriented mindset.
