Santé Monde proudly announces the launch of “Harmony,” a project aimed at improving sexual and reproductive health and rights in Bolivia, Guatemala, and Peru. This initiative marks the organization’s grand return to Latin America following a three-year hiatus and introduces a new co-management framework with local partners.
A Collaborative Path to Sustainable Solutions
The strength of Harmony lies in its strategic alliance with three organizations committed to advancing the rights of Indigenous women:
As architects and co-managers of the project, these partners will play a central role at every stage. Their specialized expertise and deep community ties will not only ensure the relevance of the actions but also maximize their impact.
Concrete Actions for Culturally Relevant Services
This project tackles the root causes of gender inequality and social exclusion, impacting the health of over 10,000 people – including 6,389 women and 4,300 Indigenous adolescents.
Harmony focuses on three often neglected priority areas: comprehensive sexual education, family planning and contraception, as well as the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Our multisectoral approach brings together the health, education, and community sectors while valuing traditional knowledge and local languages. The goal is to improve the health of women, Indigenous adolescents, and their communities through culturally relevant and accessible health services in each targeted region.
More specifically, Harmony will mobilize communities to co-create innovative solutions that integrate ancestral practices, expand access to intercultural health services, and develop sexual education programs tailored to the needs of diverse groups of women and adolescents.
By combining modern healthcare strategies with cultural knowledge, Harmony fosters sustainable, inclusive, and impactful change.
A Model for the Future
“Harmony explores a collaborative management model that sets a precedent for our future initiatives. This partnership values local knowledge and expertise, fosters mutual learning, and reinforces shared accountability for results,” highlights Daniel Campeau, interim executive director of Santé Monde.
Through this initiative, Santé Monde reaffirms its commitment to supporting Latin American communities in building a future where health and rights universally respected.
