VWA FANM
Health Services for Every Woman, Every Voice
This project strengthens access to essential services for victims-survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in the communes of Cap-Haïtien and Saint-Raphaël in northern Haiti.
In a country where insecurity exposes women and marginalized populations to daily violence and restricts healthcare access, initiatives like Vwa Fanm are vital.
Led by Santé Monde in partnership with the local Association Femmes Soleil d’Haïti (AFASDA), the project builds on proven practices tailored to local contexts to establish a comprehensive network of health, psychosocial, and community services for SGBV prevention response.
This model, grounded in strategic partnerships with community-based rights organizations, provides continuous support for survivors — from immediate care through social reintegration.
Our distinctive approach centers on community mobilization: local community health workers are trained to identify at-risk individuals, while engaging both women and men in awareness initiatives aimed at transforming harmful social norms.
Vwa Fanm is implemented as part of the Québec sans frontières program, thanks to the Government of Quebec (Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie – MRIF).
