Multisectoral programme to improve livelihoods in rural areas of Bolivia
PROMAVI’s main goal is to contribute to improving the livelihoods of families in Bolivia, especially for women in 14 municipalities in the Department of Chuquisaca. This multi-sector initiative undertaken jointly by CCISD and the Société de cooperation pour le développement international (SOCODEVI) aims at inclusive economic development, and at improvements to municipal services to offer better health for women, youth and children.
All in all, PROMAVI will directly affect more than 10,000 women, men and children, mainly from the most disadvantaged indigenous communities located in the 14 participating rural municipalities. This five-year programme is financed by the Government of Canada. With this aim in mind, the Project contributes to:
- Promotion of gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s rights;
- Support to rural communities and promotion of co-responsible adoption of practices to improve the health of women and children (girls and boys) especially in terms of nutrition, water hygiene sanitation and reproductive health;
- Support aimed at improving the profitability of family businesses run by women and men in the supported rural communities, in particular through establishment of a new local production chain that is inclusive and environmentally sound;
- Strengthening of governance within municipal governments to improve health and economic development services in order to meet the needs of women, youth and children from rural communities.
