Project for the establishment of an oncology unit and a cancer-fighting network at the Norman Béthune University
This project for the establishment of an oncology unit and a cancer-fighting network at the Norman Béthune University contributed concretely and logistically to an oncology unit in the city of Changchun, in China.
Key requirements to reaching the project’s objectives were training for doctors, nurses and epidemiologists; the creation of a tumour registry; and the establishment of a clinical research department of epidemiology.
The pooling of oncology activities encouraged information sharing between four large organizations: the First, Second and Third Hospital at the Norman Béthune University, and the Jilin Chemical Works Hospitals.
It also made possible a university research network that still benefits Canadian and Chinese universities to this day.
